Shackle
hardware has been in use in construction and rigging for 150 years
with little or no improvement. Standard shackles with a pin held
in place by a cotter pin, a threaded pin with a nut or a screw pin
that threads into the shackle ear are all susceptible to failure.
Cotter pins get lost, nuts and screw pins back off the bolt due
to vibration or running lines. Our own heightened concern for safety
while working on towers led to the invention of the patented Sur-Loc
one-piece shackle with a locking pin that can't get lost.
Sur-Loc shackles are precision investment castings with a tolerance
of .005 inches. They are made of non-magnetic, non-conductive, and
non-corrosive 316 stainless steel. High strength 15-5 P.H. high
test stainless and economical 4330 high test galvanized steel are
also used to construct our shackles. Sur-Loc shackles have been
strength tested and proven at 80,000 PSI and up to 200,000 PSI.
The plunger is lined with Delrin low-friction, long-wear engineering
thermoplastic. The alloys used are carefully controlled and every
batch is sampled and tested with samples kept for lifetime quality
control.
Sur-Loc shackles can be installed or replaced with no tools required.
They can be opened in 10 seconds and closed in 8. They are available
in sizes 1/2" to 1".
